Fundraise With Us!

Just like the Derby Festival itself, the Pegasus Pin is about fun and giving back to the Louisville community!

Find out more about how you can fund raise with our Pegasus Pin program below.

MAKE MONEY FOR YOUR SCHOOL WITH CUSTOM PEGASUS PINS!

Showcase your school spirit while you raise money, by selling Pegasus Pins – customized to include your school in the design. The best news? Customized pins work the same way that a Pegasus® Pin works – they allow “free admission” to any Pin-Admission festival event. (See an example of a Custom Pin below)

Here’s how it works:

Design & order your custom pins (at least a quantity of 100) for $5.35 each

YOU set the price you sell your custom pin for, though we recommend selling each pin for $8 (the retail price the Festival charges for metal pins). That means you would make $2.65 per pin, or $265 earned when you sell the first 100!

AND it get’s better! The more pins you order, the lower the cost per pin. That means you’ll raise even MORE money per pin sold.

To get started:

  • Contact Kentucky Derby Festival to express interest by emailing Bridget Sherrill at bsherrill@kdf.org or by phone at 502-572-3827.
  • Provide the Festival with a pdf file that includes your school name and logo. We will then create a pin mock up for your approval.
  • Once you have approved the design, we will place the order. Pins will arrive within approximately 4 weeks of order placement.
  • You will be contacted when the pins arrive for pickup and payment. The pins come assembled in small, poly bags.
  • If interested, we can attach the pins to a customized business sized card with a coupon offer or other promotional offer for an additional 5 cents per pin. You would provide the copy for this card.

The opportunities to raise money with your custom Pegasus Pin is only limited by your creativity. For example, in addition to providing admission to Derby Festival events, you could also offer discount admission to paid activities at your school with the custom pin, or if you have a relationship with a retail or food partner, they could provide a coupon offer to go along with a pin purchase.

MAKE MONEY FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION BY VOLUNTEERING!

The Festival is a not-for-profit organization with one of its major financial resources being provided by Pegasus Sponsorship (pin) sales. Proceeds from pin sales help the Festival to offer free entrance for more than 60% of its 70 events or at a very low cost to the community.

The Kentucky Derby Festival needs your support and participation more than ever!

2 Ways to Fundraise with Your Organization!

  1. When your group volunteers to sell Pegasus Sponsorships (Pins) through your own existing activities (think friends & family networks, school events, etc.), your organization will receive 8% of the total dollar amount sold.
  2. When your group volunteers at a Festival event, your organization will receive $250 or 8% of Pegasus Pin sales generated (whichever is greater)!

We encourage you to do both!
